@OspreyMTEN Grabs Eight Wins on Day Two of Bedford Cup

FORT MYERS, Fla. – University of North Florida ended the second day of the Bedford Cup with five more singles wins and three doubles victories on Saturday at the FGCU Tennis Complex.

"Today was another successful day," said head coach Mark Finnegan. "It was hot and the guys play a lot of tennis. I was proud of the fact that when we faced adversity, we handled it well. We have a shot at winning two titles tomorrow, so I am excited to see how we come out and compete."

The Ospreys go for titles in Doubles A and Singles B. The doubles duo of Zach Goldberg and Lasse Muscheites reached the finals after picking up two wins on Saturday. Goldberg and Muscheites defeated UCF's Christopher Barrus and Inaki Espindola 8-4 in the quarterfinals and then held off Florida's McClain Kessler and Alfredo Perez, the tournament's No. 3 seed, 8-6 in the semifinals. The pair faces Florida's Joshua Wardell and Chase Perez-Blanco for the Bedford Cup Doubles title. For Muscheites, it is the second-straight season in which he's advanced to the Bedford Cup Doubles championship match. He and Jack Findel-Hawkins faced No. 12 Roberto Cid and Sasha Gozun from USF.

Meanwhile, in Singles B, Jonathan Deautriell edged out Florida Atlantic's Zandrix Acob 7-5, 6-4 in the quarterfinals in order to advance to Sunday's semifinals. Deautriell faces UCF's Nico De Fraia on Sunday with a berth to the Singles B title match on the line.

Also on Saturday, Julian Bradley won two Singles A consolation matches. Bradley claimed a 6-1, 6-0 victory over USF's Sebastien Butler and then defeated Stetson's Graham Ball 6-2, 6-1 in the consolation quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Yannick Zuern dropped a Singles A quarterfinals match to Florida's Wardell 6-2, 6-2. In the Singles A North quarterfinals, Goldberg powered past Florida Gulf Coast's Eduardo Alfonzo 6-3, 6-3, but Muscheites fell 6-3, 6-4 to UCF's Espindola.

In Singles B, Alberto De Meo fought back for a 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Miami's Nile Clark in the Round of 16. However, De Meo fell in 6-3, 6-1 to Belga in the quarterfinals.

To go along with Goldberg and Muscheites' two wins in Doubles A, Bradley and Deautriell took an 8-3 win over Stetson's Loic Blanco and Coilin MacNamara in the Round of 16. However, the duo fell 8-6 to Florida's Perez-Blanco and Wardell in the quarterfinals.
