FORT MYERS, Fla. – Lipscomb University won its second Atlantic Sun Conference Championship with an 8-7 win over North Florida (45-16) this evening at Swanson Stadium. The Ospreys who played their way in to the championship series earlier in the day were eliminated with the loss.

The Bisons erased an early 3-0 deficit by plating five runs in the top of the fourth inning and from there never relinquished the lead. The Ospreys have allowed only five runs in a single inning four times this season, twice now to the Bisons. Trailing 3-2, Allan Hooker blasted a three-run home run over the right field wall.

The resilient Ospreys did not go away quietly, scoring four runs in the final five innings. Trailing by three runs going into the bottom of the ninth inning, the Ospreys scored twice to pull within a run. Donnie Dewees scored his 88^th run of the season, breaking a single season Atlantic Sun Conference run record, on an RBI single by Trent Higginbothem. Earlier in the frame he forced a throwing error on a slow ground ball up the right field line that allowed Kyle Brooks to score all the way from first.

Despite six victories in their final turn at the plate, tonight's rally eventually came up short.

The Ospreys had four players named to the All-Tournament team, Kyle Brooks, Donnie Dewees, Evan Incinelli and Ryan Roberson.

Nick Karmeris and Corbin Olmstead each put forth multiple-hit efforts, combining for four of the eight Osprey hits. Garrick Ferguson tied single-game school record and a career-best with three stolen bases in the contest. He scored the game's first run on a wild pitch and finished the night 1-for-2.

Roberson capped off the three-run third inning with his 11^th hit of the tournament and his sixth RBI in four days. He was 1-for-5 with an RBI on the day and turned started two of the Ospreys three double plays on the afternoon.

The Ospreys will now await an possible NCAA At-Large bid on Monday. The 2015 NCAA Selection Show is at noon on Monday.
