LUBBOCK, Texas -- The No. 23-ranked North Florida men's golf team wrapped up the 2014-15 campaign with an 11th place finish at the NCAA Lubbock Regional after carding a final round 287 on Saturday at The Rawls Course.
The Ospreys finished the 54-hole event with a total of 870. Junior Taylor Hancock was the squad's top perfomer at the event finishing tied for 39th at 216 highlighted by his final round 1-under 70.
"The week didn't go how we wanted but hopefully we can learn something from it," said head coach Scott Schroeder, who has guided the Ospreys to six straight NCAA Regionals and seven in his 10 year tenure. "We just never got comfortable putting and didn't do a good enough job adjusting to a different climate. Overall it was still a great season with the team winning four tournaments including the Atlantic Sun championship, it just didn't end the way we wanted."
Senior Joey Petronio concluded his collegiate career shooting an even par 71 on Saturday to finish tied for 54th at 219. Redshirt freshman Dillon Woods matched Petronio's finish tying for 54th after a final round 72.
Junior Austin Padova shot a final round 74 to finish tied for 58th at 220, while senior Parker Jones tied for 61st at 222 after completing his collegiate career with a round of 75.
No. 2 ranked Texas captured the regional title with a three-day total of 830. The Longhorns advance to the NCAA Championships along with runner-up Texas Tech (834), Duke (844), Auburn (845) and Houston (847), who defeated Purdue in a playoff for the final qualifying spot.
