ORLANDO, Fla. -- Trimming 14 strokes off their opening round performance, the North Florida women's golf team carded a second round 298 on Monday, moving up to third on the leaderboard in the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship being held at Reunion Golf Resort.
The Ospreys own a 36-hole total of 610. UNF started the day in fifth place but got solid performances from the entire lineup to make their move. Junior Mary Dawson and sophomore Megan Wilshire led the charge with both golfers posting rounds of 2-over 74 on day two. Dawson currently ranks 11th on the medalist list at 151, while Wilshire is tied for 14th at 153.
Joining the pair among the Top 20 individuals are junior teammates Emelie Alpe and Kelly Aylwin, who are tied for 12th (152) and 19th (156), respectively. Alpe and Aylwin both fired second round scores of 75 (+3). Sophomore Nathalie Nygren rounds out the Osprey lineup in 27th place (158) following her second straight round of 79.
Kennesaw State continues to lead the team competition with a two-day tally of 579, putting the Owls 22-shots in front of current second-place squad Florida Gulf Coast at 601. UNF is third followed by Jacksonville (613), Stetson (614), Lipscomb (628), Northern Kentucky (634) and USC Upstate (636).
KSU's Dulcie Sverdloff tops the medalist listing at 2-under 142, two shots ahead of her teammate Ines Lescudier (144).
Tournament action concludes with a final round on Tuesday on the Watson Course (par 72, 6,146 yards). North Florida will tee off at 8 a.m. from the first tee and play alongside Jacksonville.
