JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Hosting the UNF Collegiate for the second consecutive season, the North Florida women's golf team closed the first day with a 36-hole total of 612 on Monday.
The Ospreys carded rounds of 303-309 on the par 72, 6,050-yard layout at Jacksonville Golf & Country Club. Sophomore newcomer Megan Wilshire led the way for UNF on the opening day finishing tied for 11th after rounds of 75-75=150.
Junior Kelly Aylwin is tied for 26th at 154 (76-78) while junior Emelie Alpe is tied for 32nd at 155 (77-78). The Osprey lineup is rounded out by junior Belinda George (75-81=156) and sophomore Lauren Coe (78-78=156) in a tie for 35th.
In addition, a pair of North Florida golfers are competing in the event as individuals with sophomore Nathalie Nygren tied for 61st at 161 (82-79) and freshman Meghan Bennett tied for 88th at 167 (81-86).
Houston leads the team competition after Monday's dual rounds of play with a score of 594, six strokes in front of Texas at 600. Samford is third at 604 with Delaware (605) and UNF rounding out the Top Five.
Tournament action at the UNF Collegiate concludes with a final round beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Admission is free to the event with live scoring available online at www.golfstat.com.
