#ASunMadness: Ospreys Host Lipscomb in @ASunMBB Semifinal

JACKSONVILLE -- The No. 1 seed North Florida basketball team looks to continue its record setting season when the Ospreys host No. 5 seed Lipscomb in semifinal action of the 2015 Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament on Thursday in UNF Arena at 7 p.m.

The Ospreys (21-11) carry a six-game win streak into the contest after defeating No. 8 seed Stetson, 81-67, in quarterfinal action on Tuesday night. The win was UNF's fifth straight at home and also marked just the second time in program history that UNF has won its opening round game in the conference tournament. Lipscomb (14-16) advanced to Thursday's game after outlasting No. 4 Northern Kentucky for a 76-73 overtime victory.

Against Stetson, North Florida used an outside barrage that included hitting 14 three-pointers to cruise to the double digit victory. Beau Beech posted his third double-double in the last four games finishing with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Dallas Moore chipped in 16 points. Trent Mackey was a perfect 4-4 from long distance and Demarcus Daniels pulled down 11 boards and blocked three shots, to set a new single season block record (50) at UNF.

North Florida swept the two regular season meetings between the teams posting wins of 75-66 and 93-78. In both games, UNF overcame a double-digit first half deficit with high-scoring second half performances to earn the wins. In the last outing on Feb. 19 in UNF Arena, Moore led the way with 21 points and Jalen Nesbitt added 9 points, 11 rebounds and five assists to help key the second half surge.

The Ospreys and Bisons rank as the top two three-point shooting teams in the conference with UNF making 9.3 treys per game and LU at 8.3. Thursday's game will be carried live on the internet on ESPN3 (WatchESPN app) as well as over the airwaves in Jacksonville on 92.5 FM.

The winner of Thursday's semifinal contest advances to Sunday's Atlantic Sun Championship game against the winner of the other semifinal matchup between No. 2 Florida Gulf Coast and No. 3 USC Upstate.
