Final Round Charge Pushes @OspreyWGolf to 6th at Ocala Spring Invitational

DUNNELLON, Fla. -- Bolstered by the second best score of the day on Tuesday, the North Florida women's golf team shot a final round 297 and vaulted three spots in the final standings to finish sixth in the MSU Ocala Spring Invitational at Juliette Falls Golf Resort.
The Ospreys, who tallied a three-day total of 903, were just one stroke shy of earning their sixth consecutive top five team finish. Junior Emelie Alpe led the final round surge for UNF firing a 2-under 70 in earning a third-place finish in medalist play with a tournament total of 218 (+2). It marked the fourth round under par of the season for Alpe.
Junior teammates Kelly Aylwin and Belinda George joined Alpe in the Top 25 listings as the duo finished tied for 20th and tied for 24th, respectively. Aylwin shot a final round 76 for a total of 226 while George boasted a 2-over 74 in the closing round for a total of 227. Sophomore Lauren Coe finished tied for 44th at 233 following her final round 77 and sophomore Megan Wilshire wrapped up the Osprey travel lineup in 69th (239) after a round of 79 on Tuesday. Additionally, sophomore Nathalie Nygren competed in the event as an individual and finished tied for 18th at 225 after a final round 78.
South Dakota State claimed the team title with a 54-hole tally of 899, just one shot ahead of runner-up Daytona State at 900. Murray State, Western Kentucky and South Alabama all tied for third at 902, one stroke ahead of the Ospreys, who finished in front of fellow Atlantic Sun members Stetson (909) and Florida Gulf Coast (924).
Daytona's Tiffany Chan captured the medalist title by three shots at 211 after firing a final round 5-under 67 over the par 72, 6,113-yard layout at Juliette Falls.
North Florida will make a quick turnaround for their final regular season event as the Ospreys are slated to play in the Web.com Intercollegiate at Marsh Landing Country Club on Mar. 30-31. The Atlantic Sun Conference Championship is Apr. 12-14 at the Reunion Golf Resort in Orlando, Fla.
