TAMPA, Fla. – No. 52 University of North Florida men's tennis saw its winning streak come to an end on Friday afternoon with a 4-1 loss to No. 63 Tulane during the first day of the 2015 USF Spring Break Invitational at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.

"Tulane deserved the win today; they competed very well from start to finish," said head coach Mark Finnegan. "Our team learned a lot about themselves today and we are hoping this can fuel us for the rest of the season. I have so much belief in the team and we are going to get where we want to go."

The Ospreys got out to a 1-0 lead after winning the doubles point. Zach Goldberg and Lasse Muscheites gave UNF the first doubles win, cruising to a 6-1 victory against Alex Van Cott and Ian Van Cott at No. 3 doubles. UNF sealed the point with No. 68 Jack Findel-Hawkins and Norbert Nemcsek downing Dominik Koepfer and Chi-Shan Jao 6-3.

However, Tulane captured singles wins on four of the six singles courts to in order to get the win. Jao defeated Muscheites 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5 singles in order to tie the match at 1-1. Tulane took a 2-1 lead after Alex Van Cott had a 6-1, 6-3 win over Nemcsek at No. 3 singles. Constantin Schmitz took a 6-2, 6-3 win over Caio Gomes on the No. 2 court, while Sebastian Rey defeated Julian Bradley 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 singles for the win.

UNF continues play at the 2015 USF Spring Break Invitational on Saturday in the consolation semifinals. The Ospreys face Furman at 10 a.m., at the USF Varsity Tennis Court. UNF has already faced Furman this season, taking a 4-1 victory over the Paladins on Feb. 15.
