Out of the Box

Thrilling Walk-Off Victory: The Ospreys hope to ride the momentum built after an improbable, 5-4 win over Georgia Southern. North Florida scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth and designated hitter Blake Voyles won the game with a two-out RBI double to left field.

Late Inning Production: The Ospreys have scored 23 of their 54 runs this season in the 7th, 8th and 9th innings this season. In 2014 the Ospreys were 0-25 when trailing after eight innings.

One-Run Ball Games: Wednesday night's win was the fifth, one run game of the season in which the Ospreys are now 2-3. In addition the Ospreys are 1-1 in two run games.

All-Time vs. CSU & SJU: The Ospreys are 5-1 all-time against Charleston with their last meeting occurring on Mar. 3, 2013. The only loss against the Buccaneers was a 2-1 setback in the middle game of a three game set in Charleston. Friday will mark the first meeting between the two schools since Mar. 9, 2000. The game was the first and only meeting in which the Red Storm were 10-8 winners at Harmon Stadium.

Scouting St. John's: The Red Storm were picked to win the Big East in the annual preseason poll after a 35-win campaign in 2014. Throug six games this year, St. John's comes into the weekend with a record of 3-3. Starting pitcher Cody Stashak has already been awarded two Big East Player of the week awards and currently sports a 0.68 ERA through 13.1 innings of work. The Red Storm earned a split against fellow Atlantic Sun member, Kennesaw State in the Atlanta Challenge.

Scouting Charleston Southern: After winning the first four games of the season, the Buccaneers have dropped their last two contests at the hands of LaSalle. Charleston Southern scored 19 runs in the two losses and have outscored opponents 53-42. Andrew Widell leads a powerful attack, with a .458 batting average and two home runs.
