Record Performances Push @OspreyWGolf to 2nd on Day 1 of Amelia Island Collegiate

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. -- The North Florida women's golf made a bit of history Monday on the opening day of the Amelia Island Collegiate as the Ospreys matched a program best round of 286 led by junior Emelie Alpe's program record round of 69.
The Ospreys concluded the 36-holes of play at Amelia National Golf Club with a day one total of 583 (297-286). The squad's 2-under par afternoon performance marked just the second team under-par round in program history. In addition, Alpe's 3-under par total marked the program's first round in the 60s.
Junior newcomer Mary Dawson lead a quartet of players in the Top 20 finishing the day tied for seventh at 145 following rounds of 1-under 71 and 74. Junior Kelly Aylwin ended the day tied for ninth at 146, posting rounds of 75 and 71 (-1), while Alpe is tied for 12th at 147 having opened the day with a 78.
Sophomore Lauren Coe is tied for 18th at 150 (73-77) and junior Belinda George rounded out the Osprey lineup in a tie for 31st at 154 (82-72). A pair of UNF golfers competed as individuals with sophomore Megan Wilshire tied for 27th at 153 (75-78) and fellow sophomore Nathalie Nygren tied for 47th at 157 (78-79).
Florida International leads the 15-team field with a two-round tally of 580, three strokes ahead of UNF. Daytona State is third at 584 with Stetson (593) and Toledo (605) filling out the top five spots on the team leaderboard. FIU's Meghan MacLaren vaulted to the top of the individual medalist competition at 11-under 133 (64-69).
Tournament action at the Amelia Island Collegiate concludes with a final round of play on Tuesday beginining with an 8:30 shotgun start. North Florida will be paired with FIU and Daytona State on holes 1-3.
