PENSACOLA, Fla. – The North Florida Baseball team will travel west to participate in the Cox Diamond Invitational hosted by the City of Pensacola this weekend. Nicholls State, Southern Mississippi, St. Louis and Troy all converge at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium beginning Friday morning.

Mid-Week Report: The Ospreys plated eight runs over their final two at bats in a, 16-9 come-from-behind victory over The Citadel on Wednesday afternoon. A seven-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning, broke a 8-8 tie. The seven runs were a part of 11 unanswered for the North Florida offense. The two teams combined to use 17 pitchers (UNF-9; Citadel-8). Of the nine used by North Florida, five made their collegiate debuts.
Nick Karmeris hit the fourth Osprey home run of the season with a three-run blast in the bottom of the second.
Trent Higginbothem and
Garrick Ferguson each put together three-hit efforts in the victory.
Homecoming: Senior third baseman
Trent Higginbothem, who hails from Pensacola, comes into the weekend as the team's hottest hitter. He has put forth multiple-hit efforts in each of his three of his starts this season. He currently leads the Atlantic Sun and is ranked 9th in ninth in the country with a .667 (8-for-12) batting average.
Late Game Rallies: The Ospreys have scored 34 runs this season and 17 of them have come in the final three innings.The bulk of the runs came in two separate turns at the plate. In the bottom of the seventh inning in a 16-11 win over VMI last saturday, seven runs crossed the plate and seven more scored in the seventh inning against Citadel on Tuesday.
Magic Number of Hits: North Florida leads the Atlantic Sun with 50 hits and sports a team batting average of .329. In both losses this season the Ospreys have been held to eight or less hits. In the team's two victories, they have racked up 21 and 16 hits respectively.
