Moore Picks Up 2nd #ASunMBB Player of Week Award

MACON, Ga. - North Florida's Dallas Moore collected his second Atlantic Sun Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor of the season, while USC Upstate's Deion Holmes and Stetson's Derick Newton landed their first Newcomer of the Week accolades, announced on Monday by the league office.

Moore led the Ospreys to two wins away from UNF Arena by averaging 16.0 PPG, 8.7 RPG & 5.7 APG. North Florida fell to Saint Louis to open the week, but rebounded with a road victory vs. Hartford in which Moore grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds and his third double-double of the season. The junior guard nearly recorded a triple-double adding seven assists in the victory.

"This is a great honor for Dallas and our program," said head coach Matthew Driscoll. "When we receive honors like this, it is truly team driven statistically and it is a tremendous reflection on how much we love each other as a team. Like all our guys, Dallas worked correctly throughout the summer and off-season to specifically improve his ball-handling which is giving him more assist opportunities plus he has solidified his shooting base and quickness of release on his three-point shot making it more accurate and consistent."

USC Upstate's Holmes set a new career-high for scoring in three-straight contests as he started with 20 against Winthrop then increased to 22 vs. Georgia Southern. The Chesnee, S.C. native finished with 26 vs. The Citadel. For the week, Holmes averaged 22.7 PPG on 42.5 percent from the field and 57.1 percent on three pointers.

Stetson's Newton tallied back-to-back double-doubles and 20-point games in Stetson victories against Fort Valley State and Bethune-Cookman. Newton began the week with 20 points and 10 rebounds vs. FVSU before setting a career-high with 22 points and 11 boards against B-CU. A freshman forward, Newton leads the A-Sun in free throw percentage at 90.9.
