@OspreyMBB Makes Home Debut Monday vs UTRGV

Game Notes (pdf)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The North Florida basketball team makes its long awaited home debut in UNF Arena as the Ospreys welcome UT Rio Grande Valley at 7 p.m. The game, sponsored by Global Diamonds, has been designated "Veterans Appreciation Night".

In addition, UNF will unveil their championship banners earned last season during a pregame ceremony.

The Ospreys return home following a dominating season-opening road victory over Illinois, 93-81, on Friday night in Springfield, Ill. UNF connected on a program record tying 17 three-pointers including a 7-for-8 shooting performance from long distance by senior Beau Beech. Junior Dallas Moore led the way with 26 points, 10 assists and no turnovers while Beech chipped in 25 points. Demarcus Daniels narrowly missed a double-double finishing with 13 points and nine rebounds, while Trent Mackey added 13 points including four treys.

The Ospreys are 5-1 in home openers under seventh year head coach Matthew Driscoll, who enters the game needing just one victory to match Matt Kilcullen as the winningest coach in program history with 98 wins.

UTRGV enters Monday's tilt following an 86-59 loss Friday at Miami. The Vaqueros trailed by just eight points, 28-20, before seeing the Hurricanes explode for 58 second half points. Shaquille Hines netted 18 points and pulled down six rebounds to lead the UTRGV effort.

After hosting UTRGV, North Florida welcomes Edward Waters on Wednesday (Nov. 18) before tipping off a stretch of four straight road games and six of their next seven away from UNF Arena.
