CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Facing ranked competition on virtually every court, University of North Florida women's tennis fell 4-0 to No. 13 Miami in a first-round match at the 2015 ITA Kick-Off Weekend on Saturday at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

"We fought hard today from the beginning despite the score," said head coach Audra Cohen. "We had chances in doubles, but got a little passive and that gave Miami momentum going into singles. We dropped quick first sets in singles, but battled very hard to have opportunities to win second sets on a few courts. Overall, I'm very happy with the way we fought and competed."

All three doubles courts and five of the six singles matches had the Ospreys playing ranked opponents.

Miami claimed the doubles points with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. On the No. 1 court, Taylor Hollander and Marina Cunningham suffered a 6-1 setback to No. 8 Stephanie Wagner and Lina Lileikite. Quetzali Vazquez and Esther Zuniga's 6-4 loss to No. 37 Sinead Lohan and Wendy Zhang clinched the doubles point and put Miami up 1-0.

In singles, UNF saw itself trail 2-0 as Miami's No. 7 Wagner claimed a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Hollander at No. 1 spot. Vazquez fell 6-1, 6-2 to No. 88 Clementina Riobueno on the No. 4 court, giving Miami the 3-0 advantage. Miami captured match point at No. 2 singles as Zuniga dropped a 6-1, 6-4 match to No. 39 Lohan.

UNF finishes play at the season-opening 2015 ITA Kick-Off Weekend on Sunday in the consolation match. The Ospreys face No. 53 USF at 10 a.m., at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
