JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- For the second consecutive season, the North Florida cross country teams will host the 110% Invitational at the Hayt Golf Center on the UNF Campus beginning at 7:30 a.m. with the collegiate men's race followed at 8 a.m. by the collegiate women.
In addition to the collegiate competition, the event will also include prep boy's and girl's races with nearly 20 high school teams from around Jacksonville and Northeast Florida scheduled to run.
The 5000m course tours around the four-hole layout of the Hayt Center golf course and includes some brief forays onto some walking trails between the holes.
"This is a great opportunity for our teams to race at home," said UNF head coach Jeff Pigg. "We really appreciate the cooperation and assistance of the Hayt Center staff, especially Scott Schroeder for helping us create a great course on a perfect cross country venue. With the inclusion of the high school meet, there will be a good number of people along the course with team supporters and parents. It will bring a pretty festive environment to the event. Our college field is ideal for any early season meet. I am excited and pleased that we can have such a good home for our student-athletes."
The collegiate field includes North Florida, Jacksonville, Stetson, Webber International and Edward Waters. Teams set to compete in the prep races include: Baldwin Middle, Bishop Kenny, Bolles, Camden County, Creekside, Episcopal, Fletcher, Fort White, Providence, Robert E. Lee, Rockledge, St. John's Country Day School, St. Joseph Academy, Trinity Christian Academy and Wolfson.
North Florida swept the collegiate competition last year winning both the men's and women's competitions.
