JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The North Florida women's soccer team returns home after six matches on the road to open up A-Sun Conference play against the Eagles of Florida Gulf Coast on Friday, Sept. 26th at 7 p.m. at Hodges Stadium.
Â
"We are excited to start up conference play and have had a good week of training," said head coach Robin Confer. "FGCU has played a competitive non-conference schedule and will be prepared."
Â
The Ospreys (1-8-0) are coming off of a tough weekend at the Jaguars Classic in Mobile, Ala., where they dropped two 1-0 decisions to South Alabama and Troy, with their loss to Troy coming in the second overtime period.
Â
One highlight of the weekend was senior goalkeeper Megan Dorsey, who tallied 19 total saves, earning her A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week Honors. Her 51 saves this season ranks second in the A-Sun and her 221 saves ranks second among active A-Sun goalkeepers, while her 14 victories ranks second all-time in school history.
Â
The Eagles (6-3-0) are led by sophomore Tabby Tindell, who leads the A-Sun in goals this season in both goals (10) and points (23).
Â
"When you get to conference play it is like a new season, so our team is excited," added Confer.
Â
Friday's match will be live streamed for free, courtesy of ASun.TV, and a full recap following each match will be available on UNFOspreys.com.
