Mobile, Ala. – In their seventh game this season decided by one goal, a 103^rd minute golden goal in the second overtime propelled the Trojans of Troy 1-0 over the North Florida Ospreys in a non-conference, neutral-site matchup in Mobile, Ala.

"That was another tough one for us today. This team continues to fight and compete and I can't fault the effort they bring each game," said head coach Robin Confer. "We have to find ways to win. It wasn't one of our more consistent performances but we put ourselves into a position to get a result."

The stalemate was finally broken shortly after the start of the second extra time period, when Chelsey Williams delivered the ball to Trojan teammate Alissa Jones, who fired from the 18 and found the far post for the golden goal.

The Ospreys seemed to have some difficulties creating open chances. Senior Jill Holdsworth attempted a long shot from 25 yards out in the 14^th minute, but Trojan keeper Mikki Lewis was able to make the save. In the 41^st minute. Freshman Caitlin Kader earned her first minutes of her career and sent a shot from the top of the box, but Lewis was again able to get in front of the ball and make the save.

For the Ospreys, sophomore Alexis Bredeau and freshman Hanna Parado led the team in shots with two, while senior keeper Megan Dorsey led the game in saves with nine, playing all 103 minutes in the net.

The Trojans led in the shots category by a tally of 17-11 and led in shots on goal, 10-4.

"Troy is a good team and both teams battled and again the bottom line is which team is going to take advantage of their chances," added Confer. "The good news is we start conference play at home next weekend and it is a clean slate for everyone."

The Ospreys are back home at Hodges Stadium next Friday for their Atlantic Sun conference opener against the Eagles of Florida Gulf Coast. Match time is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on ASun.TV.
