SIESTA KEY, Fla. -- The North Florida sand volleyball team bested the College of Charleston, 5-0, on Friday afternoon in the final regular season dual match of the season.
The Ospreys (16-5) recorded straight set wins in four of the five pairs matches en route to the sweep. UNF's top tandem of Dagnija Medina/Kim Hildreth dispensed of the Cougar's top pairing Emily Neideffer/Darcy Dorton, 21-14, 21-10, while No. 2 tandem Anna Budinska/Cari Whimire their seventh consecutive win and 20th of the season with a 24-22, 21-16 victory over Melissa Morello/Cara Howley.
At No. 3, the team of Cameron McGuire/Tanner Garbutt snapped a three-match skid with a 21-13, 21-18 sweep of Sloane White/Andi Zbojniewicz, and the pair of Emily Strack/Allison Shirley edged CofC's Kallie McKown/Maddie Hills, 24-22, 21-19.
UNF's team of Julie Trembley/Britt Claessens survived the team's toughest pairing of the day, outlasting Charleston's duo of Catey Warren/Kari Fidelholtz in a three-set thriller, 11-21, 21-18, 15-12.
The Osprey's No. 6 pair of Emily Davanzo/Ebony Gunn improved to 10-1 in dual match play after topping Ashley Watson/Grace Rebarchak, 21-14, 21-17 in an exhibition contest.
North Florida will now join a group of close to 30 collegiate teams participating in the pairs pool and flighted bracket competition at the Fiesta on Siesta event. Osprey pairs will compete against other pairs in various matches on Saturday and Sunday.
