The Camels improved to 4-3 on the season while the Ospreys dropped to 0-3 in the young dual meet season. The meet was supposed involve a third school, North Carolina A&T but the Aggies unexpectedly had to pull out of the scheduled tri-meet.
"It was a disappointing result for us but I don't think the score indicates how well we swam," said first-year Head Coach
Ian Coffey. "We were able to turn in some really good times and I'm proud of our effort."
Junior
Amy Taylor continued her stellar start to her 2014-15 season with a pair of individual event wins. She came into the meet with the top 1000 freestyle time and was able to win today's event with a time of 10:30.27. She also touched the wall first in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:08.95.
"Amy (Taylor) put together some nice swims today, it was nice to see her hard work and training is paying off," added Coffey.
The Ospreys also got impactful effort from senior
Natalie McCallum who won the 100 breaststroke and came in second place in the 200 breaststroke. She turned in a season-best time of 2:29.25 in the 200 and just missed eclipsing her best time of the year in the 100.
A strong effort in the 200 freestyle saw the Ospreys finish 2-3-4 and pick up a total of nine team points.
Maria Bernard out-touched teammates
Taylor Schmidinger and a season best time from sister
Rebeca Bernard for second place.
The Osprey 400 medley relay comprised of
Angel Morrison, McCallum
Lissa Janowicz, and
Maria Bernard placed second and recorded the best team of any quartet this season.
North Florida will not be back in the pool until Tuesday, Dec. 16 when they take on Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers. The Ospreys will stay in South Florida and travel over to FIU the next day before returning home.
