BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The North Florida women's swim team opens up Coastal Collegiate Swim Association action this week when they take on Campbell and North Carolina A&T on Saturday morning. The meet will be hosted by Campbell and will be they only dual meet in the month of November for the Ospreys.
"We do have a different approach to conference meets, it's a preview to our competition at our championship meet and there is always a little extra effort in practice," said first-year Head Coach
Ian Coffey. "Campbell is a very well-coached program and North Carolina A&T is always a good opponent."
The Ospreys will go into the meet seeking their first win in the young, dual meet season. Campbell comes into Saturday with an overall record of 3-3 while North Carolina A&T is 1-1 which includes a 109-88 win over Howard last Saturday.
"These will be two very evenly matched opponents for us and it will be back and forth all day," added Coffey. "Our goal is to come out of Saturday with a pair of victories."
In just two dates of competition this season, the Ospreys have 21 times listed in the CCSA Top 24. Junior
Amy Taylor has led the way for North Florida this season, with the conference's top time in the 1000 freestyle and top five times in both the 200 and 1650 freestyle. The Ospreys will also lean on the performances of seniors
Natalie McCallum and
Lissa Janowicz who each boast three top 24 times in the CCSA this year.
Saturday will mark the first matchup against North Carolina A&T since the 2012-13 season where the Ospreys were victorious, 216-35. Campbell edged North Florida in the only battle last season, 156-138.
The tri-meet is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at Johnson Aquatic Center.
