@OspreySwim Soars Over Catawba, but Falls to UNC Wilmington

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—The University of North Florida swimming and diving team upset Catawba College 212-80, but fell to UNC Wilmington 181-119 on Tuesday afternoon.

In the 1000-yard freestyle, Amy Taylor placed first with a time of 10:35.82, and Kara Plocharsky placed fifth with a time of 10:56.29.
Â
Taylor (5:12.11) placed first in the 500-yard freestyle. Plocharsky (5:27.73) and Maxwell (5:46.57) rounded out the Ospreys top three finishers.

Maria Bernard claimed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.61. Taylor (2:01.00) and Rebeca Bernard (2:02.39) finished two and three among the Ospreys.

In the 1-meter diving competition, UNF swept the top three positions. The Ospreys were lead by Monica Rice with 258.29 points. Fernanda Robles (222.65) and Amanda Habig (212.95) finished in second and third, respectively.

In the 3-meter diving competition, the Ospreys swept the first four places. Habig lead UNF with 259.20 points. Rice (252.65), Whittle (251.80) and Robles (247.70) finished two, three and four respectively.
Janowicz (2:13.92) placed third in the 200-yard butterfly ahead of Plocharsky (2:16.95) and Cara Maxwell (2:25.88)

In the 200-yard medley relay, Ana Cristina de Paula, Bridget Woods, Eva Porter and Mariana de Paula placed third with a time of 1:54.13. The Ospreys B team of Angel Morrison, Lissa Janowicz, Caitlyn Gutierrez and Janie Kennedy placed second among the Ospreys.

In the 100-yard backstroke, Kennedy (1:03.36), Ana Cristina de Paula (1:04.24) and Morrison (1:05.27) were the top finishers among the Ospreys.

Natalie McCallum (1:09.70) and Woods (1:10.01) finished back-to-back among the Ospreys in the 100-yard breaststroke.

In the 50-yard freestyle, Rebeca Bernard (26.01), Mariana de Paula (26.06) and Eva Porter (26.21) were the top three Osprey finishers.

Rebeca Bernard (56.40) placed third in the 100-yard freestyle while, Kennedy (57.19) and Mariana de Paula (58.06) finished fifth and seventh, respectively.

Woods (2:30.92) finished third in the 200-yard breaststroke, followed by McCallum (2:33.08) and Ana Cristina de Paula (2:36.16) who finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Porter (1:01.89), Janowicz (1:02.03) and Maria Bernard (1:03.28) finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

North Florida returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 11 as the Ospreys host its final home meet of the year against Brenau, Campbell and West Florida. The meet will serve as Senior Day and is slated to begin at 11:00 a.m.Â
