
Women's Golf 12th After 36 Holes at Pinehurst Challenge

PINEHURST, N.C. -- The North Florida women's golf team finished day one play Monday at the Pinehurst Challenge in 12th place with a score of 624.
The Ospreys carded rounds of 313-311 and improved four spots in the team standings from the morning round to the afternoon round.
UNF's all freshmen lineup was led by Emelie Alpe's matching rounds of 77-77. Alpe is tied for 36th at 154.
Tess Huber and Mary Rodgers are both tied for 53rd (158) following rounds of 79-79. Kelly Aylwin is tied for 62nd at 159 (78-81) with Belinda George rounding out the lineup in a tie for 67th at 160 (84-76).
Richmond leads the team competition after completing the opening day in a total of 594. Tournament host College of Charleston is in second just three strokes behind at 597 with Old Dominion (602), Rollins (603) and Penn State (603) rounding out the top five teams.
The Spiders' Caroline Lovette and CofC's Vanessa Koechli share the medalist lead at 147.
Tournament action at Pinehurst #6 (Par 72, 5,983-yard) concludes with a final round of 18 holes on Tuesday.
