TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – University of North Florida women's basketball heads west on I-10 for its final nonconference road game of the regular season, taking the trip to No. 25 Florida State for a 7 p.m., game on Monday night at the Donald L. Tucker Center. The game will air live on ESPN3.

"Florida State will be a great test for us," said head coach Mary Tappmeyer. 'They are a Top-25 team and if you aspire to be a top program, you need to compete againt them. I look forward to seeing how we handle the challenge Monday night."

UNF is back in action for the first time in 10 days after having the last week off from competition due to exams. The Ospreys have dropped their last four games prior to the exam break, including a 67-51 setback to Tennessee State on Dec. 6.

Monday night's game marks the Ospreys' third against an ACC opponent. Additionally, 2013-14 is the only season in program history in which Miami (Nov. 8), Florida (Nov. 10) and Florida State have all appeared on the Ospreys' schedule.

Junior guard Destinee Smith enters Monday with double-digit points in each of UNF's eight games thus far. Smith is averaging a team-best 12.4 points per game and scored a season-best 18 points at Florida.

Florida State is the first nationally ranked team the Ospreys face this season after appearing at No. 25 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. The Seminoles enter Monday's game with an 8-1 record and has held Atlantic Sun opponents to 41.0 points per game this season. Since a 69-59 overtime loss to Louisville on Nov. 24, Florida State has rattled off four straight wins, including a 79-49 victory over Stetson (Nov. 29) and a 71-33 win over Jacksonville (Dec. 8). Natasha Howard (16.1 ppg), Morgan Jones (15.2 ppg) and Brittany Brown (13.2) all average double-digit points. Howard and Ivey Slaughter each average 8.8 rebounds per game, while Jones is pulling down 7.4 boards per game.
