JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida volleyball begins its final homestand of the 2013 season on Tuesday night when the Ospreys face Stetson at 6 p.m., at UNF Arena in a critical Atlantic Sun match.
Â
"We have an opportunity to earn our way up in the conference standings with three home matches this week," said head coach Steve Loeswick. "We begin with a very solid Stetson team and we're looking forward to a fun and competitive match."
Â
The outcome of Tuesday night's match could bear some significance in the Atlantic Sun standings as the regular season starts to wrap up. For UNF, the Ospreys head into the week two wins out of sixth place. Stetson can secure a bid in the six-team tournament with a win on Tuesday night.
Â
Although the Ospreys come off a 3-0 loss at Jacksonville on Friday night, in their last home match, the Ospreys came back for a 3-2 victory over Florida Gulf Coast on Oct. 28. It was the first time since 2005 in which UNF defeated the Eagles in the regular season.
Â
Tuesday is fourth-straight week in which UNF has a Monday or Tuesday night match. The Ospreys are 2-1 in the previous three matches, which included a win at Bethune-Cookman and last week's victory over Florida Gulf Coast.
Â
Stetson finishes the regular season with four-straight road matches. During their final weekend at home, the Hatters posted a 3-1 victory over USC Upstate on Friday, but fell 3-2 to conference leader ETSU on Saturday. Tiffany Creamer picked up her third A-Sun Freshman of the Week honor on Monday. Kaley Melville leads Stetson with 3.46 kills per set and Kayla Weller averages 9.97 assists per set.
