JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Looking to build on their conference road victory last weekend, the North Florida men's soccer team returns to Hodges Stadium to host rival Stetson on Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Ospreys snapped a six-match winless streak with a hard fought 1-0 shutout at Mercer last Saturday night. With the win, UNF improved to 5-5-2 overall and 1-3-1 in the Atlantic Sun. The team boasts a 2-2-1 mark in Jacksonville this season, but will be playing their first match of the season at Hodges Stadium.
Against Mercer, freshman Sean Young netted his first career goal to help the Ospreys post their first conference road win since the 2010 season. Goalkeeper Brad Sienkiewicz recorded seven saves and was named the A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts.
Nine different Ospreys have scored goals this season led by sophomore Jean Rivaroli's four including a pair against USC Upstate in UNF's last home appearance.
Stetson brings a two-match win streak into Saturday's tilt having posted one-goal victories over both Mercer (1-0) and Florida Gulf Coast (2-1). The Hatters are 3-8-3 on the season with a 2-3-1 mark in conference play, but have yet to win a road match (0-3-2).
The Hatters are led by Chase Rodgers with three goals. Andreas Schnabl minds the nets for SU boasting 52 saves on the year and a 1.55 goals against average.
Satuday's match marks the ninth all-time meeting between the two programs with Stetson owning a 7-1-0 advantage in the series. The Ospreys' lone victory was a 2-0 decision in 2009 at Hodges Stadium.
Following the Stetson match, North Florida remains in Jacksonville to conclude the regular season with a road match at crosstown rival Jacksonville on Nov. 6 and its home finale against FGCU on Nov. 9.
