#WGolf Finishes 6th at LPGA-Xavier Invitational

DAYTONA, Fla. -- Sparked by a pair of Top 25 individual performances, the North Florida women's golf team posted a sixth-place finish Monday at the LPGA-Xavier Invitational held at the LPGA International Course.
The Ospreys carded a final round 312 en route to finishing with a 54-hole total of 924. It marked the squad's best tournament finish and total of the season.
Sophomore Tess Huber and freshman Lauren Coe both finished among the Top 25 of medalist play with Huber earning a tie for 10th and Coe finishing tied for 24th. Huber posted a three-round total of 225 including a round of 75 (+3) on Monday, while Coe carded a 232 en route to her career best finish.
Sophomore Emelie Alpe posted a 78 in the final round to finish tied for 36th (235) and fellow sophomore Belinda George was 40th (237) after her final round 79. Kelly Aylwin, another sophomore, rounded out the UNF lineup with a tied for 42nd (239).
Mercer claimed the championship in the 18-team field posting a three day total of 893. Daytona State and Morehead State tied for second at 901 followed by tournament host Xavier (914), Stetson (918), North Florida, Samford (927), Illinois State (929), North Dakota State (938), McNeese State (942), FGCU (957), South Dakota State (969), Bethune-Cookman (981), Northern Kentucky (986), South Dakota (990), FAU (991), Creighton (992) and North Dakota (1020).
Samford's Bailey Gray captured the medalist title at 212, after firing a final round three-under 69.
North Florida is scheduled to conclude its fall tournament schedule on Oct. 14-15 in the Courtyard Classic at Marsh Landing Country Club in Jacksonville.
