JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's soccer team held Lipscomb scoreless for 76 minutes before falling 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Patton Park.
Â
"It was disappointing not being able to come out with a win today," said head coach Linda Hamilton. "I was proud of the way we played and fought. We dominated in every category, but we were just unable to score."
Â
The Ospreys' defense held the Lady Bisons to only four shots on goal. Ellen Lundy would find the back of the net off a pass from Alesondra Colbert, which proved to be the game-winner.
Â
Despite owning a 29-12 advantage in shots, the Ospreys were unable to capitalize. UNF also led in corner kicks, 8-0. Senior forwards Carolina Lencina and Thea Linkfield led the Ospreys with a combined 13 shots.
Â
Junior keeper Megan Dorsey recorded three saves on the afternoon, while her counterpart Anna Buhigas tallied seven to earn the victory.
Â
"We've got to find a way to finish and score," said Hamilton. "We look to learn from this match and hopefully it will get us ready for the next four games. We've got a job to do and we still have time."
Â
The Ospreys are back in action on Friday when they take on East Tennessee State in Johnson City, Tenn., at 7 p.m.
