GREENVILLE, S.C. – The North Florida women's golf team carded a round of 324 in opening round play Friday at the Lady Paladin Invitational hosted by Furman.
The Ospreys, who ended round one in 13th place, were led by freshman Julia McQuilken's round of 78.
Freshmen Tess Huber and Kelly Aylwin concluded day one play tied for 51st with scores of 81 while freshman Mary Rodgers was tied for 61st (84) and freshman Victoria Pitenis was 78th (89) to round out the UNF lineup.
Nova Southeastern, the No. 1 ranked team in NCAA Div. II, posted a first round 297 to take the lead in the team competition with tournament host Furman in second at 302 and Chattanooga in third with a 305. Appalachian State's Rumbidzai Masamvu finished with a one-under 71 to grab the top spot in the individual medalist standings.
North Florida continues play Saturday at the Lady Paladin in second round action at the Furman University Golf Course. Live results are available at www.golfstat.com.
