JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida volleyball had its best hitting match of the season and the Ospreys swept Bethune-Cookman 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-22) on Tuesday at UNF Arena during their Breast Cancer Awareness match.
“I'm very happy with our efficiency this evening,” said head coach Steve Loeswick. “We did a nice job together as a team and staying positive. We appreciate all of our fans coming out and supporting a great cause in breast cancer awareness and want to give a special thanks to President Delaney and Donna Deegan for their attendance.”
As a team, UNF hit .388 for the match, topping over .300 for a hitting percentage the second time this season. UNF's last .300-or-better match was at Bethune-Cookman on Sept. 11.
Marija Pantovic and
Dagnija Medina led the Ospreys with over .500 hitting percentages. Pantovic hit .558 and made 10 kills off 18 attempts, while Medina had a .545 hitting percentage (13 kills, one error, 22 attempts).
Krysta Gardner (14 kills, 12 digs) and Janeen Davis (13 kills, 11 digs) each had a double-double for the Lady Wildcats.

The Ospreys began to pull away from Bethune-Cookman midway through when a Pantovic kill sparked a three-point put UNF up 17-12. Bethune-Cookman chipped away at UNF's lead and pulled to within two, but the Ospreys tallied five of the set's final six points.
The Ospreys' second set was just as powerful behind multiple runs and a .414 hitting percentage. UNF led from start to finish and got its largest lead – a 13-point cushion – on a late kill from Pantovic that made it 23-10.
UNF and Bethune-Cookman battled during the third set. The Lady Wildcats held a couple two-point advantages midway through, including at 18-16. A kill from
Paige Pridgeon on the next point, started a four-point spurt take put UNF up 20-18. UNF and Bethune-Cookman continue to fight over the last points before a kill from
Cameron McGuire put the set and match away for the Ospreys.
UNF remains at home this weekend with a pair of Atlantic Sun matches. The Ospreys host Lipscomb on Friday at 7 p.m., and then Northern Kentucky on Saturday at 3 p.m.
