Women's Soccer Visits North Carolina for Weekend Matches

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's soccer team will take a tour of North Carolina this weekend as they visit Elon on Friday evening for a 5 p.m. match, before heading east to Raleigh, N.C. to face North Carolina State at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Last week, the Ospreys played two neutral site games at Jacksonville University, beating Georgia State 2-1 in double-overtime on Friday afternoon before falling 2-1 to Furman on Sunday.
Eleven different Ospreys recorded shots for UNF against Georgia State, before sophomore forward Thea Linkfield scored the game-winning goal in the final minute of the second overtime period. Against Furman, the Ospreys controlled the majority of the game, but fell victim to a last-second Paladin goal in the final minute of regulation.
The Elon Phoenix, 1-3-1 so far on the season, are coming off a road trip that saw them lost 5-0 at Virginia Tech before dropping consecutive 2-1 decisions at UMass and Harvard. The Ospreys have never lost to Elon, earning a 1-1 draw at home in 1996 before winning 3-2 at Elon the following year.
NC State has begun the season on a tear, winning five of their first six games. Their only loss so far has come to nationally-ranked Penn State. The Wolfpack defeated UNF 3-2 in the teams' only past meeting, at 2008 match in Raleigh. Complete game notes and season statistics for UNF can be found on the attached PDF.
