JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The University of North Florida women's soccer team will be looking to rebound from an 0-2 road trip as they travel across town this weekend to play in a two-game, round-robin tournament hosted by Jacksonville University. The Ospreys will face Georgia State on Friday and Furman on Sunday afternoon.
On their two-game road trip last week, UNF dropped a 3-1 decision at Western Carolina before falling 5-0 to nationally-ranked Florida State. Senior midfielder Denisse Soltero scored the weekend's lone goal for the Ospreys.
UNF will face Georgia State Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. in the weekend's opening game. The Panthers, 0-3 on the year so far, will be led by junior forward Sarah Bennett. Bennett scored both GSU goals in their 3-2 loss to Villanova last week. GSU has beaten the Ospreys in the teams' only two meetings, most recently winning 4-3 in 2009 at Hodges Stadium.
The Furman Paladins are off to a 1-2 start this season, but are coming off a 3-0 home victory over Presbyterian. UNF fell to Furman 3-1 in 2009, the only time the squads have ever met. The Ospreys and Paladins will kick off Sunday at noon.
