
Women's Basketball Falls 67-46 at Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Poor shooting for much of the day plagued the University of North Florida women's basketball team on Sunday afternoon as the Ospreys lost 67-46 to Missouri at Mizzou Arena.
Fabiola Josil led the Ospreys with 10 points and seven rebounds. Brittany Kirkland dished out four assists, while Larkira Jones made three steals.
Christine Flores recorded 22 points with BreAnna Brock and Morgan Eye each chipping in with 12 points. Brock also grabbed eight rebounds, while Flores had three blocks.
An 8-0 run by the Ospreys began the game. Jadhken Kerr hit back-to-back three-pointers, while Taylor Smith nailed a jumper to power the Ospreys' run. But a cold shooting spell hit UNF just as Missouri's shooting warmed up and the Tigers used a 22-5 run to go up 22-13 at the 6:13 mark. The Tigers' run included four-straight three-pointers. Missouri carried a 26-15 lead heading into halftime.
In the second half, UNF had to contend with a Missouri team that hit seven three-pointers, including four-straight to begin the half. The Tigers went up by as many as 33, taking a 63-30 lead with 6:00 to go. The Ospreys gradually cut into Missouri's lead, using an 11-0 run to make it a 22-point, 63-41 game with 2:07 to go.
UNF shot 28.3 percent for the day, going 15-for-53 from the field. The Ospreys tallied 30 rebounds.
Missouri was 23-for-48 from the field, including 11-for-21 from long range, and shot 47.9 percent. The Tigers pulled down 34 boards.
UNF wraps up its two-game road trip on Tuesday when the Ospreys visit UMKC. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CT.
