JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The University of North Florida will carry the momentum of a two-game winning streak up north for road matches against two more conference foes. The Ospreys travel to East Tennessee State for a Friday evening bout before heading to USC Upstate on Sunday afternoon.
This past weekend, UNF grabbed two shutout conference victories at home to climb back to 2-2 in Atlantic Sun play. The Ospreys trounced Mercer 4-0 on Friday evening before taking down Kennesaw State 1-0 on Sunday. UNF also raised its home record for the season to 3-0-1 and has yet to surrender a goal at Hodges Stadium.
Friday evening, sophomore forward Carolina Lencina scored her second and third goals of the season to lead the Ospreys to a 4-0 victory over Mercer. The win snapped UNF's three-game losing streak. Sophomore forward Lauren Hopfensperger also scored and freshman midfielder Jill Holdsworth tucked away her first collegiate goal.
On Sunday against the Owls, a volleyed goal from junior midfielder Kathryne Husted proved to be all UNF needed to grab a 1-0. It was the Ospreys' first victory over KSU since 2002.
This coming weekend, ETSU enters Friday's game on a four-game winning streak, including three consecutive victories to start A-Sun Conference play. The Bucs currently sit in second place in the conference and are coming off two road wins over Lipscomb and Belmont.
USC Upstate enters the weekend looking for its first A-Sun victory, as it currently sits 0-3 in conference play and 2-10-1 overall. The Spartans have been tougher to beat in Spartanburg, carrying a 2-1-1 home record into the weekend's contests.
Kickoff on Friday will be at 7 p.m. and Sunday's game will begin at 2 p.m.
