
Women's Tennis Defeats Owls, 6-1

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's tennnis tean defeated Kennesaw State, 6-1, on Friday afternoon in Atlantic Sun action in Kennesaw, Ga. UNF improves to 13-1 overall and 5-0 in the conference.
The Ospreys took the doubles point early, sweeping all three matches. Sophomore Aline Berkenbrock and junior Raquel Castro teamed up to defeat Vera Shkundina and Ayano Tanaka, 8-2, in No. 1 doubles.
In the No. 2 doubles, sophomore transfer Danielle Day and freshman Melanie Aguirre defeated the KSU duo of Mackenzie Swindall and Morgan Carney, 8-5. Juniors Lauren Holton and Victoria Krook played a close match against Agatha Palider and Iesha Holton before defeating the KSU tandem, 8-7 (6).
In the singles matches, Berkenbrock continued her undefeated streak with a 6-2, 6-3, win over Shkundina at No. 1. Castro downed Tanaka, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 2, while Day grabbed a 6-0, 6-1, win over Alena Sergeychik at the No. 3 spot.
Krook defeated Mackenzie Swindall, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 4. Holton also remained undefeated on the season with a 6-3, 6-0, win at No. 6.
The Ospreys will face Mercer at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, in Macon, Ga.
