
Ospreys Head to Alabama for a Pair of Matches

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's tennis team takes to the road for a pair of matches in Alabama. On Saturday, Feb. 13, the Ospreys will face South Alabama at 11 a.m. CST in Mobile before traveling to Troy on Sunday, Feb. 14 to face the Trojans at 11 a.m. CST.
UNF (3-0) defeated South Carolina State, 6-1 the last time out. Sophomore transfer Danielle Day clinched the match for the Ospreys in a three set, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 match in the No. 3.
The Ospreys also picked up wins in the No. 1 from sophomore Aline Berkenbrock. In the No. 2 senior Raquel Castro scored and junior Victoria Krook picked up a win in the No. 4. Junior Lauren Holton grabbed a win in the No. 6 singles match. UNF also won the doubles point with wins in the No. 2 (Day and Holton) and No. 3 (freshman Melanie Aguirre and Krook).
South Alabama (0-0) will open its season against the Ospreys. The Jaguars were the 2009 Sun Belt Conference runners-up after falling to FIU in the finals. South Alabama finished the 2009 season with a No. 52 ranking.
Troy (1-4) fell to No. 4 Florida, 7-0, in their last outing. The Trojans have faced three nationally ranked teams in the opening matches of the season. They fell to No. 14 Clemson, 5-2 and No. 32 FIU, 5-2.
Following Sunday's match, the Ospreys will return home to host Florida A&M on Friday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. They will follow that up with a home match against College of Charleston on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 11 a.m.
