
Ospreys Conclude Quad-Meet

Fourteen swimmers posted season-best times in a total of 27 events
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida swimming and diving team did not get the result it was looking for as it fell to Georgia Southern, Gardner-Webb and Florida Gulf Coast in a quad-meet in Statesboro, Ga. However, the Ospreys received season-best performances from 14 different swimmers in a combined 27 events over the weekend.
UNF dropped the three dual meets 262-90 to Florida Gulf Coast, 214-123 to Gardner-Webb and 215-134 to Georgia Southern.
True freshman Sara Evans posted four season-best times over the weekend, while sophomores Amanda Anderson and Krista Teresak each had three season-bests in the meet. Freshmen Ashten Crosby, Katie England, Margaret Hoynes and Kirsten Orndorff, as well as juniors Lyn Ann Nelson and Caroline Larsson each had season-bests in two events, while senior Krissy Harms, juniors Taylor Crosby and Kimberly Kuehl and sophomores Sapphire Hinson and Amanda Singleton each posed a season-best in an event.
Evans, the reigning Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Swimmer of the Week, posted season-best times in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.88), 200 breaststroke (2:25.93), 200 individual medley (2:10.56) and 400 IM (4:35.86). Anderson recorded best times in the 100 backstroke (59.95), 200 IM (2:11.33) and 400 IM (4:43.32). Teresak notched season-best times of 1:00.82 in the 100 butterfly, 2:12.74 in the 200 fly and 4:50.27 in the 400 IM.
Ashten Crosby posted her best swims of the season in the 100 butterfly (1:03.49) and 200 butterfly (2:15.63), while England notched collegiate bests in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.17) and 200 breaststroke (2:27.56). Hoynes had collegiate best races in the 100 fly (1:03.46) and the 100 freestyle (56.31), while fellow freshman Orndorff recorded season-bests in the 200 free (2:00.76) and the 500 free (5:23.52).
Larsson recorded season-bests in the 400 IM (4:41.66) and 1,650 free (17:57.65), while fellow junior Nelson had best times in the 100 free (53.71) and the 200 free (1:54.17).
Taylor Crosby posted a season-best time in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.69), while Harms recorded a best time of 26.34 in the 50 free. Hinson recorded a time of 1:03.73 in the butterfly while Kuehl and Singleton recorded best times in the 100 free (55.77) and 1,650 free (19:51.99), respectively.
North Florida returns to the water on Saturday, Jan. 30, as the Ospreys head to Daytona Beach, Fla. for a tri-meet with Daytona Beach State College and Florida Atlantic. The meet is slated to start at 1 p.m.
