
UNF to Host a Pair of A-Sun Games

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's basketball team returns home to face Atlantic Sun Conference opponents Belmont and Lipscomb. The Belmont game is set for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14. On Saturday, Jan. 16, the Ospreys will face Lipscomb at 4:30 p.m. Both games will be played in UNF Arena and are doubleheaders with the Osprey men's team.

Leading the Ospreys (4-11, 1-5 A-Sun) is sophomore guard Brittany Kirkland with 13.3 points per game while handing out 3.9 assists per game. Junior guard Juliemay Syquio and freshman forward Jadhken Kerr are both adding 8.0 points per game. Senior forward Arlande Cherizol is pulling down a team-best 6.9 rebounds per game and blocking just over one shot per game.
Belmont (7-7, 2-4 A-Sun) is led by Amber Rockwell with 14.9 points per game. Haley Nelson is notching 12 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while Kristin Bunch is adding 10.3 points per game. Shaunda Strayhorn is averaging 4.8 assists per game.
The Ospreys will be looking to even the all-time series as Belmont holds the 4-3 advantage. The two teams split last season with each team winning on the other's home court. UNF will also be looking to avenge a 60-34 home loss last season at the hands of the Bruins. The Ospreys defeated Belmont 64-57 in Nashville, Tenn. later in the season. Syquio averaged 13.5 points and Kirkland tallied 10 points per game against the Bruins last season.
Leading Lipscomb (4-12, 2-4 A-Sun) is Jenna Bartsokas with 12.7 points per game. Anna Bowers is adding 7.3 points per game. Brittany Duerk is notching 6.3 rebounds per game.
North Florida leads the all-time series 6-1. Last season UNF and Lipscomb split with each team winning on their respective home courts. The Ospreys won a close 52-51 decision at home before falling in a close 56-54 game later in the season in Nashville, Tenn. Kirkland averaged nine points in the two games.
Single-game tickets for women's basketball games are $10 for adults and $8 for youth 17-and-under and senior citizens 55-and-older. One ticket will admit you to both the 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. games on those days. Children 2-and-under and any current UNF student with a valid Osprey1 Card are admitted free. Student guest passes for those events are $5 and limited to one per student.
