FAU looked to begin its four-game home stand with a win against UNF, but the Ospreys spoiled their chances in front of their home crowd in
The Ospreys put the first goal on the board in the 48th minute when senior forward Katelin Swift made a run down to the end line and crossed a dangerous ball which found Rhodes' crashing towards the goal. After maintaining control she was able to juke the defender, cracking the ball in the right side of the net.
FAU's Ashley Mannarino who had four shots on goal, cut UNF's momentum scoring in the 58th minute after stealing the ball in UNF's backfield and scoring on a one-on-one opportunity to even the score.
“We had a lot of good possessions but most of them happened on our side of the field,” said head coach Linda Hamilton. “You can't make crucial mistakes, you have to take care of the ball for the entire 90 minutes.”
In last week's match against Furman, UNF had five shots overall. In tonight's match, UNF had five shots in the first half and five shots in the waning minutes trying to break the tie in the second overtime.
On the night the Ospreys had 15 shots, eight of which being split between senior midfielder Lauren Maze and senior forward Elena Luzins.
The Ospreys will look to even their record to 3-3 when they play Florida International on Sunday, Sept. 13, at 2 p.m. in
