Swift scores fifth goal of the season on a unbelievable header.

MIAMI, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's soccer team ended its weekend road trip this afternoon losing to Florida International, 2-1, in Sunday's match, but to highlight the day senior forward Katelin Swift scored her fifth goal of the season.

In the 34^th minute, Swift scored her third career goal against FIU. It came on a ball sent in from 35 yards out from the left side to a sprinting Swift who beat her man and headed it in passing FIU's goalkeeper, Katelyn Savage, to the right side of the net.

“It was an unbelievable play and great effort put forth from Katelin to get the goal,” said head coach Linda Hamilton.

For the Ospreys, keeping the lead in the second half proved difficult with FIU attempting five corner kicks to the Osprey's one.

FIU applied enough pressure to wear out the Ospreys scoring in the 49^th minute and again in the 60^th. Both goals were produced from forward Katrina Rose who scored after getting passed the UNF defense on a free kick attempt.

“They beat us on every 50/50 ball and out-worked and hustled us,” said Hamilton. 'We are going to have to work hard at keeping leads when we are ahead.”

The Ospreys will return to Hodges Stadium for their third tournament of the season in the UNF Hampton Inn Ponte Vedra Showcase which will feature Mississippi State, The Citadel and Atlantic Sun Conference foe Florida Gulf Coast.

“We will regroup this week and prepare for our tournament next weekend in front of our home crowd,” said Hamilton after the match.

On Friday, Sept. 18, at 7:30 p.m. the Ospreys will take on Mississippi State and then on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 1 p.m. they will finish up against The Citadel.
