“They were that good and we played that bad,” said head coach Mary Tappmeyer. “It was very disappointing to have that kind of performance. It was one of those games that we just need to move on from. I know we are a much better team than we just showed and we will do everything in our power to make sure we get better as a team. It is a long season and we need to focus on the next 18 games, which are all conference games, and the most important of any of the games we play.”
Freshman forward Jadhken Kerr tallied nine points for the Ospreys (3-8) off of a trio of three pointers. Sophomore guard Brittany Kirkland added six points, while freshman center Larkira Jones came off the bench to pull down team-high six rebounds.
For the Hurricanes (11-2), Riquna Williams had 23 points. Diane Barnes added 13 points while pulling down 11 rebounds and Shenise Johnson added 12 points.
UNF kept the game close early, down just six (10-4) with 14:57 on the clock. With 10:54 left in the first half sophomore forward Rachelle Rasley drained a jumper to keep the Ospreys within 11 (19-8), but the Hurricanes would go on a 22-2 run to close out the half and take a 41-10 lead into the break.
The Ospreys shot 21.7 percent in the first half. UNF improved its shooting to 31.3 percent in the second half, including 55.6 percent from behind the arc, but the deficit was too much to overcome as
