
UNF Falls to Campbell in A-Sun Opener

Junior guard Juliemay Syquio led the Ospreys (1-4, 0-1 A-Sun) with 15 points, going 4-of-8 from the field and a perfect 7-of-7 from the line. Sophomore guard Brittany Kirkland added 13 points, while freshman forward Jadhken Kerr tallied 12, shooting 4-of-5 from behind the arc. Senior forward Arlande Cherizol led on the boards with nine rebounds.
For the Camels (4-1, 1-0 A-Sun) Kate Cloxton tallied 16 points. Lauren Yesh added 10 points while pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds.
The two teams kept the game close in the opening minutes, but
UNF came out of the break hitting back-to-back shots with a jumper from Kirkland followed by a layup from senior center Shennette Sheffield to cut the lead down to three (38-35) at the 17:43 mark. The Camels responded with a 15-4 run over the next nine minutes to take a 14 point lead, 53-39, with 8:37 remaining. The Ospreys were unable to respond as
“I think they were more physical than we were early in the game,” said head coach Mary Tappmeyer. “They got us a bit frustrated and took us out of our game. We did not rebound the ball well. They hit the offensive glass hard and if you're not rebounding then its tough to win. Rebounding is going to be the name of the game for us from here on out. They had 17 second chance points. I thought our defense played well at times, but we need to get more defensive production from our bench.”

A season ticket for basketball is $120 and includes all men's and women's home games, a total of 28 games on 19 event dates, including nine Atlantic Sun Conference double headers. A special rate is available for UNF Alumni ($110) and UNF Faculty and Staff ($105). A Family 4-pack is also available for the season at $360. Single-game pricing is $10 for adults and $8 for youth 17-and-under and senior citizens 55-and-older. Children 2-and-under and any current UNF student with a valid Osprey1 Card are admitted free. Student guest passes are $5 and limited to one per student.
