The Hatter's scored the first goal of the match in the seventh minute but senior forward Katelin Swift tied up the score with a rhythmic run in the 32nd minute. After faking a cross, she netted a left-footed goal over Andrea Garavaglia's hands in the back left corner of the net.
In the 33rd minute, Stetson scored a go-ahead goal, but the Ospreys once again met the challenge a goal by senior midfielder Kristin Rhodes. For Rhodes, the goal was her second in the last two matches.
Howard recorded seven saves on the day and faced 20 shots and 12 shots on goal from a determined Hatter's offense.
In the final three minutes of the first half, Howard made an incredible save to halt the Hatters and keep the score tied going into the half. The save gave the Ospreys a great opportunity for the second half.
In the 54th minute, Stetson made another advance bringing Howard out of the goal, which gave Stetson's Katie Bitetto scoring opportunity. Bitetto chipped the ball over Howard, but it was kicked away by sophomore Samantha Keyes. Keyes' unlikely stop was made possible by sheer effort and hustle as she cleared the ball.
“It was a tough match overall,“ said head coach Linda Hamilton. “We couldn't get into our groove and put together a good series of touch passes today. It is disappointing but we have to keep our heads up, we're still in the middle of this conference battle.”
The Hatters held the Ospreys scoreless in the second half, scoring a pair of goals to take a 4-2 victory. The loss was the Ospreys' third A-Sun loss of the season.
