Men’s Soccer to Host Two A-Sun Matches

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's soccer team returns home for a pair of Atlantic Sun Conference match-ups this weekend at Hodges Stadium. The Ospreys start the weekend against East Tennessee State on Friday, Oct. 23, at 7:30 p.m. UNF concludes the weekend with a match against USC Upstate on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 3:30 p.m.

The Ospreys are led offensively by junior Adam O'Neill. The London, England native leads the team with nine points and four goals. Senior Frank Dinzey has five points with two goals and an assist. Six different Ospreys are tied with one goal each. Senior Matthew Hollyoak and sophomore Peter Lauer are tied for the team lead with two assists each.

The match-ups over the weekend have tremendous bearing on the Atlantic Sun Conference standings and the A-Sun Tournament. The top six teams in the conference advance to the tournament.

North Florida is even in conference play with a 2-2-1 record. The Ospreys enter the two matches in fifth place in the A-Sun, however, because Florida Gulf Coast is not eligible for postseason play due to NCAA Division I reclassification, UNF would enter the tournament as the No. 4 seed under the current standings.

ETSU enters the weekend with an overall record of 2-7-3 and a conference mark of 1-3-1. Omitting FGCU, the Buccaneers are currently in eighth place in the league, but just one point back of tying for the sixth and a potential spot in the A-Sun Tournament.

The Spartans begin the weekend with a 4-6-2 overall record, including a 1-2-2 record in Atlantic Sun play. USC Upstate is two points back in the standings behind the Ospreys and one point ahead of ETSU.
