
Horne, Byun off to good starts

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior J.C. Horne and freshman Joe Byun are both tied for 12th after two rounds of play at the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate, both standing 3-over-par (146) heading into Tuesday's final round.
UNF (+20) started out the day with a team score of 294 before shooting 302 in the afternoon round. The Ospreys were second after the opening round, but slipped into a tie for sixth to close out play.

Horne opened his first nine holes of the day with three bogeys before taking a pair of those strokes back with two birdies on his second nine. He finished the opening round up with a bogey before taking to the course for a second round that included only five pars to go along with six birdies and seven bogeys.
Byun also had a couple of up and down rounds with seven birdies and eight bogeys on the day to go along with one double bogey in the opening round. The freshman, however, closed strong, finishing the day 2-under-par on his final nine holes.
Sophomore Chris Kennedy – who held the lead at Shoal Creek after two rounds of play last year – found himself on top of the leaderboard for most of the opening round, shooting a 1-over-par 73 and finishing the round tied for sixth before fading in the second round with an 82.
Freshman Kevin Aylwin is also in good shape in the race for the individual competition after shooting a 72 in the opening round and following that up with a 77. He is tied for 18th after two rounds of play.
Jeff Dennis rounded out the scoring for UNF with rounds of 76 and 80.
UAB's Zach Sucher leads the individual competition at 3-under-par, six strokes ahead of Horne and Byun.
