Senior set school record with 5-10 high jump; ranks 17th nationally
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - UNF's Amy Stroder will enter the Atlantic Sun Conference's Indoor Track and Field Championships in two weeks on the heels of winning the high jump competition at the Tiger Invitational in Clemson, S.C., last weekend.
Stroder's performance earned her the women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week award, the first ever won by a UNF athlete, male or female.
A senior biology major from Sugarland, Texas, Stroder won the 13-woman event by clearing 1.78m (5-10.00) on her third attempt at that height to defeat Clemson's April Sinkler and South Carolina's Kayla Blake. Stroder, Sinkler and Blake had all cleared 1.73m (5- 8.00), but Sinkler and Blake fouled on their three attempts.
Stroder eclipsed her previous school record of 5-7 set earlier this year. She also defeated athletes from UAB, ETSU, Coastal Carolina and Jacksonville State. Her mark places atop the Atlantic Sun and ranks 17th in the nation.
