UNF visits Kennesaw State Sunday at 2 p.m.
UNF (5-6-1, 2-1-0 A-Sun) struggled offensively, managing just eight shots in the contest, only three of which were on goal. Junior Kady Dearing, the only Lady Osprey to take multiple shots, took three with one on goal.
Mercer (5-3-3, 2-0-1) helped itself to a 1-0 lead at the 12:58 mark when Ali Meek scored her third goal of the season. UNF senior keeper Erica Lippitt made seven saves in the contest, three in the first half, which helped UNF's defense limit the Bears' lead to one goal at the break.
The Bears wasted no time adding to their lead after halftime, scoring an insurance goal three minutes into the second half. Kacie Hudson netted her fourth goal of the season off a corner kick with Kaelyn Horton and Meghan Castaldo assisting.
UNF applied more pressure on the Bears' defense than in the first period, but Mercer keeper Jean Worts made two of her three saves after halftime to stifle the Lady Osprey attack and keep UNF off the scoreboard. The Lady Ospreys took five of their eight shots in the second half.
For good measure, Mercer's Olivia Tucker added one more goal with a little less than 17 minutes remaining. The Bears fired 18 total shots, 10 of which were on goal.
Only 13 Lady Ospreys saw action in the contest and took the remaining shots (other than Dearing's three). Juniors Katelin Swift and Kristen Rhodes, sophomore Kristen Lazowick and freshmen Denisse Soltero and Vladana Petricevic each took one shot.
UNF returns to action on Sunday in an A-Sun matchup against
