Lady Ospreys set for showdown at GSU

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's swimming team will hit the road for a noon meet on Saturday against Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association foe Georgia Southern.

UNF came out on the short end of a neck-and-neck meet against Florida Gulf Coast on Jan. 18. Junior Caroline Poling led the Lady Ospreys with two first-place finishes, including a season-best performance in the 100-butterfly with a time of 58.23. She also helped lead the 200-medley relay team to a time of 1:51.42.

Juniors Emily Eisenhower and Debbie Rapoza claimed the top spot in 1 and 3-meter diving. Eisenhower's score of 262.42 helped her win the 3-meter competition, while Rapoza put up a top mark of 249.74 in 1-meter.

Georgia Southern continued its strong season with wins over FGCU (150.5-149.5) and Campbell (223-70) last Saturday. Courtney Martz led the Eagles with three first-place finishes.

Who's Hot: Eisenhower was named CCSA Diver of the Week on Tuesday after her performance against Florida Gulf Coast. It was the third time this season she earned that honor and ranks No. 1 in both 1 and 3-meter diving in the conference. UNF divers have been named Diver of the Week five out of 10 weeks this season.

Notables: The Lady Ospreys had 13 season-best times in their last meet … UNF defeated Georgia Southern 179-174 last year in Jacksonville … Patricia Lanoue set a season-best time of 59.20 in 100-butterfly in her last meet … LynAnn Nelson, Becky Ryerson and Ashley Fernaays set new season-bests in the 100-freestyle against FGCU … sophomore Krissy Harms swam a lifetime-best 4:42.20 in the 400-IM against FGCU.
