NEW ORLEANS - The University of North Florida baseball team wasn't able to figure out the tough pitching of No. 22 Tulane for the third straight day, dropping a 5-1 contest on Sunday at Zephyr Field.

UNF (0-7) struck out 16 times and collected seven hits in support of starting LHP John Atteo (0-2), who pitched a solid 4.2 innings in which he allowed two earned runs on seven hits. Both Jimmy Glanville and Jon Dandridge went 2-for-4 at the plate. Senior catcher James Belyea went 1-for-4 and drove UNF's only run of the game.

Tulane (4-2) jumped out in front first, scoring a run in the first three innings to take a 3-0 lead. But the Ospreys fought back in the top of the sixth when Belyea's single to right field drove in Damon Olinto to pull to within 3-1.

The Ospreys were threatening in the top of the seventh when Dandridge hit a double to left field that would have driven in Glanville, but he was called out for not touching third base in what was a controversial play. UNF loaded the bases later in the inning, but Olinto ended the inning with a fly out to center field.

Travis Martin went 3.1 innings in relief of Atteo and allowed two runs on four hits. The Green Wave's Shooter Hunt picked up the win and Daniel Latham picked up the save.

UNF will try to get the wheels rolling when they return home for a three-game series with Towson next weekend. The first game is set to start at 7 p.m. on Friday at Harmon Stadium. Audio and live stats can be accessed on UNFOspreys.com.
