UNF falls 2-1 to Lipscomb

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida women's soccer team (6-10-1, 5-4 A-Sun) dropped a heartbreaker to the Lipscomb Bisons on Friday night falling 2-1.
Despite dropping the game UNF had a 18-4 shot advantage, while also having the upper hand in shots on goal with a 9-2 margin. UNF goalkeeper Rachael Howard left the game with zero saves, while Katie Shelton had eight for the Bisons.
The Lady Ospreys jumped on the board early with a Elizabeth Gowan goal in the 20th minute. The goal was Gowan's sixth of the season, and came after Tiffany Wiggen slipped the ball past the Lipscomb defense right to Gowan's feet.
Lipscomb answered back with just seconds left in the first half, when Halie Proffitt put one into the back of the net. The game winning goal came in the 84th minute for the Bisons, as Katie Spellman teamed up with Proffitt to seal the deal for Lipscomb.
UNF returns to action on Sunday as they take on the Belmont Bruins. Game time is set for 2 p.m. with senior day activities happening before the game.
