
UNF falls in first
meeting with Miami

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (Sept. 22, 2006) - The University of North Florida women's soccer team fell victim to a three-goal outburst by the University of Miami to fall 4-1 to the Hurricanes Tuesday night in the first ever meeting between the teams.
Christine Brewer tallied the lone goal of the night for the Lady Ospreys who fell to 11-5-1 with the loss. With the win, the Hurricanes evened their record at 8-8-1.
Bryn Heinicke got the scoring started for Miami in the 17th minute of play when she put a shot from the right side of the penalty box by UNF keeper Heather Gosselin. The game stood 1-0 at the half.
Miami struck first in the second half when Rachael Rigamat scored an unassisted goal less than three minutes into the half.
Brewer answered with her second goal of the year six minutes later to cut the Miami lead in half. Lena Mullaney assisted on the play that saw Brewer score from a short angle just right of the goal.
The Hurricanes countered from there less than two minutes later when Heinicke tallied her second goal of the game. Jessica Wyble sealed the game in the 67th minute with an unassisted goal.
Miami outshot UNF 25-3, while Gosselin finished the night with six saves.
UNF returns to action when it travels to Francis Marion on Sunday at 1 p.m.
